Dating in your 30s and 40s: you're not late
Family keeps asking when you'll marry. Here's why dating later can actually be an advantage.
By Coach KJ Mensah, founder of AfroDuo and relationship coach
In many of our families, being single past 30 brings questions at every gathering. It can feel like you missed something. You didn't.
You know yourself better
By now you know what you value and what you won't accept. That clarity saves time.
You're more stable
Career, finances and home are often more settled, which makes building a life together easier.
Be clear about what you want
If you want children, say so. If you're open to someone who has them, say that too. Directness is a gift at this stage.
Don't settle out of pressure
Marrying the wrong person to quiet relatives creates a much bigger problem. Wait for the right one.
Love doesn't follow a schedule. Many of the strongest marriages started later in life.
AfroDuo is a dating app for Africans at home and across the diaspora who want serious relationships. Every member verifies their ID, so the people you meet are real.
